Program Manager: Leo Christodoulou, Ph.D.
The Naval Advanced Amorphous Coatings program has developed a derivative class of high-performance amorphous metal coatings that provide a combination of outstanding corrosion resistance, damage tolerance, and non-skid performance in difficult marine environments. The program objective was to have these coatings certified for unrestricted use on Naval ships. The program optimized mechanical (e.g., damage tolerance) and physical (e.g., friction, roughness) properties of coatings developed under the High-Performance Corrosion-Resistant Materials (HPCRM) program for application on a Navy test-bed vehicle; fleet-operational tests will be conducted.
