Molecular Electronics

   

moletronics logoTo achieve ultra-miniaturization, high functionality, and faster clock rates for advanced electronics systems, DSO funded research in Molecular Electronics (Moletronics). The integration of multiple molecules, nanoparticles, and/or carbon nanotubes into scalable electronics promises to bring about high-density memories and moderate computational power in an extremely small, low-power format. The goal of this 2-year DSO program was to demonstrate functional, affordable molecular logic or memory devices that are interconnected to one another and to the outside world in a realistic and practical manner. Moletronics focused on new design and architecture philosophies (including self-assembly techniques and fault tolerance) to guide the development of practical and useful devices in the nanoworld.
