Team Description* The Red Team is an alliance of individuals, non-profits, and for-profits committed to win the Grand Challenge. Members include students, volunteers, and professionals embedded from our corporate sponsors.
Red Team operates under the auspices of the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, a world leader in the development of mobile robotics. Robots designed at Carnegie Mellon have traversed Antarctica and the Atacama Desert, explored abandoned mines, and scaled active volcanoes.

We are united to catalyze a technical, cultural and industrial revolution for a new class of robotics. By doing so, the team is substantially advancing the state-of-art in autonomous ground vehicles. The Red Team is led by Professor Red Whittaker, an acknowledged leader in the field of mobile robotics.
