Team Description* The Palos Verdes High School Road Warriors are gearing up to compete in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge. Our team is familiar with the Grand Challenge, after obtaining poll position 10 in the 2004 Grand Challenge and being the only high school team accepted. We are a group of approximately 40 high school students, parent mentors, and well-known professionals. In order to maximize efficiency, our team is divided into three sub-groups. The Business Team is involved with the administrative, fundraising, procurement, and media aspects for the Road Warriors. The Hardware Team is in direct contact with our vehicle and performs all physical modifications and installations. The Software Team develops the foundation for autonomous operation. The Palos Verdes Road Warriors have reorganized since their participation in last year’s Grand Challenge. Aside from acquiring a new 2004 Acura MDX, we have relocated our headquarters to a multi-functional facility on our school’s campus. In addition, we are excited about implementing new state-of-the-art technology that will easily navigate the Doom Buggy on the Grand Challenge course. The Palos Verdes Road Warriors are looking forward to competing in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge. We are ahead of schedule, on budget, and excited for the adventure that lies ahead!
Sponsors* Power Acura of South Bay, EMC, Analog devices, Greer & Associates, AIA architects, Honda, Boeing, AIAA, Good Year, Gorilla Equipment, Infinity Micro, PVHS Booster Club, and DesiPharm.
