Team Description* Team MonsterMoto combines the talents of a small but experienced group of Engineers, Off-Road racers and supportive Pit-babes. The Austin, Texas based team has developed a vehicle to enter the $2 Million Grand Challenge and optimistically dubbed it "JackBot".

JackBot is based on a conventional all-terrain vehicle design, but despite its name, JackBot won't carry many of the "bells and whistles" of its competitors. That's because Team MonsterMoto's engineering approach strives to keep systems simple and thus more likely to survive the tough 200 mile race course. Although the search for simplicity was paramount, the team recognized early that winning the Grand Challenge would require more than basic curb-feelers!

Faced with this technological reality, Team MonsterMoto developed a new and advanced laser-assisted curb-feeler technology for JackBot. Preliminary tests of this technology have produced very promising results.

Phillip A. Yeager, MonsterMoto's founder and team leader says. "Our primary goal is to develop a useful, reliable and affordable AGV system to save our soldiers' lives. If JackBot causes collateral damage to the career of some useless PhD out there, then that's great too, but it's not our first objective here."

While it is impossible to predict the outcome of the 2005 Grand Challenge, be certain that Team MonsterMoto will be having fun and JackBot will be ready to race.
